My Writing Journey

I knew I would write a book someday; I just didn't know about what.

Someday finally came and I got the idea to write about the funny and awkward situations that arise from saying or understanding the wrong thing in a foreign language. It happened to me A LOT, living in Brazil and learning Portuguese, then Spanish. I put my foot in my mouth countless times! I knew that the same thing happened to others when attempting to communicate in languages other than their mother tongue. Over a period of 2-3 years, I gathered a collection of stories from interesting people, making blunders in diverse languages and cultures. That collection became "Say What?"

My mission is to seek out these stories and present them in an informative and entertaining way to readers. If I make one person smile or laugh out loud then I've succeeded.

The Next Challenge:

Building on the success of "Say What?" and the self-publishing lessons learned, I'm actively hunting for more stories for a new book on the same theme of language misadventures.
